Abstract
The present study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of Bowen family systems therapy and couples therapy based on integrated behavioral system on the intimacy of couples and family functions in couples referring to counseling centers in Mahshahr city. This research was a semi-experimental type with pre-test and post-test design with a control group. The statistical population of this research consisted of all couples who referred to counseling centers in Mahshahr city to marital problems. From among the statistical population, 30 couples who met the criteria for entering the research were selected by available sampling method. The data collection tools in this research were parents' marital intimacy questionnaire (2015), family functioning questionnaire by Epstein, Baldwin& Bishop (1983). Research data processing using descriptive and inferential statistics (covariance analysis) were used to analyze the data. The results showed that there is a significant difference between the three groups in the variables of marital intimacy and family functioning. This means that the treatment of Bowen's family systems and couple therapy based on integrated behavioral system have a significant effect on these variables. Bowen's family systems therapy and couple therapy based on integrated behavioral system did not have different effectiveness on marital intimacy and family functioning.
