Predicting the Life Satisfaction based social support with the mediation of emotional balance and mental endurance in the elderly

Abstract

The purpose of this research was predicting life satisfaction based on social support with the mediation of emotional balance and mental endurance of the elderly. The research method was correlation, and the statistical population was made up of elderly residents of nursing homes in Tehran in 2022. The sample size was determined to be 340 people by modeling method. They were chosen by random cluster method. Data collection tools include: Wally and Shifur's Life Satisfaction Scale (1969), Ziment et al.'s Social Support (1988), Bradburn's Emotional Balance (1969), Peter Klug's Mental Endurance (1982). In data analysis, descriptive statistical indicators such as mean, standard deviation and variance as well as inferential statistics of structural equations were used. There has been a positive and significant relationship between life satisfaction and each of the variables of mental endurance and emotional balance. There has been a positive and significant relationship between social support and mediating variables of mental endurance and emotional balance. Therefore, social support has been a predictor of life satisfaction with the mediation of emotional balance and mental endurance.
