Abstract

Abstract
Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of schema therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction on sexual satisfaction in married people referred to psychological centers in Tehran. Methods: The present study was a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest with a one-month follow-up phase with a control group. The statistical population of the present study included all married people with marital problems who referred to psychological centers in Tehran in 1398. Among these people, 45 people were selected by purposive sampling method and randomly divided into three groups of 15 people. The experimental groups underwent 8 sessions of 90-minute schema therapy or mindfulness-based stress reduction and no action was taken for the control group. The data collection tool was the Sexual Satisfaction Scale. Research data were analyzed using SPSS-21 and repeated-measures analysis. Results: The results showed that schema therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction had a significant effect on increasing sexual satisfaction of married people in the post-test and follow-up stages (P<0.001). There was no significant difference between the two groups in this regard (P<0.05). Conclusion: According to the results, schema therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction can be used to improve sexual satisfaction in married people.
