Abstract

Aim: The research was on the effectiveness of couple therapy group training with integrated behavioral approach on empathy and intimacy of infertile couples. Methods: The research method was a semi-experimental or pre-test, post-test and follow-up design with a control group. The statistical population of the research includes all the infertile couples who referred to counseling and treatment centers in Shiraz in 2019, and 30 of them were selected by purpose-based sampling and based on the available samples from among the referring couples. The faces were randomly replaced in two groups of 15 people. Combined behavioral couple therapy program was implemented in 8 sessions of 90 minutes weekly, but the control group did not receive any intervention. Both groups answered empathy and intimacy questionnaires in pre-test, post-test and follow-up. Data analysis was done using univariate covariance analysis using SPSS.22 software. Results: The results showed that couple therapy with integrated behavioral approach can improve empathy (P<0.01), positive feelings towards spouse (P<0.01), and intimacy (P<0.01). Conclusion: The study showed that couple therapy with integrated behavioral approach is effective on empathy and intimacy of infertile couples.
