Evaluation of the educational status of street children in Zahedan

Abstract

Aim: The present study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the educational status of street children in Zahedan city. Method: This research is a qualitative study that uses the evaluation method of "educational expertise and criticism" provided by Eisner and includes four dimensions of description, interpretation, evaluation, and thematization. The current research community consists of all the street children of Zahedan who work in the city during the day and return home at night. In the present study, 20 street children were selected by convenience sampling and interviewed. In addition, parents or guardians of these children, citizens and officials who were in contact with these children were interviewed about these children. Findings: In this research, the next step is to describe an attempt to identify or present the qualities related to the life of street children in Zahedan city, which depicts the public environment or how to educate these children. In the interpretation aspect, the educational critic has explained the problem of street children by using the conducted researches and theories of social and educational sciences. In the evaluation dimension, the researcher evaluates the observed phenomena of street children as educational, non-educational and anti-educational experiences, and the critic clearly expresses the content of the narrated story in the dimension of evaluation. Conclusion: The results obtained indicate that economic problems, conflict between family members, especially parents, divorce or death of parents, indifference of the relevant authorities towards this phenomenon, the misbehavior of school officials and citizens with such children in the emergence of this problem. and its escalation play a fundamental role.
